Dr. Stephen Gavazzi, Professor of Human Development and Family Science in the College of Education and Human Ecology, is co-editor of the anthology "Fulfilling the 21st Century Land-Grant Mission: Essays in Honor of The Ohio State University’s Sesquicentennial Celebration." Long known for his work on families with adolescents, Professor Gavazzi more recently has been writing about higher education leadership, campus-community relationship issues, and the mission of our nation’s land-grant universities.
If we look where we started in 1870 and fast forward 150 years to 2020, where are we as a university in terms of teaching, research and engagement? What’s the difference between a land-grant university and all the other public universities? We have a state-wide mission that we carry out because of extension.
